How Same-Sex Marriage Threatens Adoption

Our household has had many discussions on same-sex marriage recently.  Some visiting teens have participated in the discussion or for lack of a better word, there seems to be an apathetic view- I don’t care, let them get married.

I didn’t ‘like’ all the posts circulating facebook.  I don’t hate gays.  They are people. So, why am I posting this?

Legalizing same-sex marriage threatens adoption (as well as a host of other things).  How do I know?  It already has.

“In Massachusetts, the legalization of same-sex marriage meant the end of the adoption ministry of the the largest adoption agency in that state.  Given its refusal to recognize same-sex couples as candidates for adoption, the agency was forced by law to end its respected adoption ministry.”- R. Albert Mohler Jr., How Same-Sex Marriage Threatens Society

The legalization of same-sex marriage threatens every Christian adoption agency.  It will leave no sector of society untouched.

Why are we so willing to stand by and watch it happen?  We don’t want to be accused of gay-bashing?  We don’t want to hate?  We don’t want to offend anyone?  We don’t know what the Bible says about marriage? We don’t know what marriage is?  We are the proverbial frog boiling in water.  The water is boiling and we are still lounging around.

One of my teens pointed out, “our country has been headed this way for years.  We are like ancient Rome before its fall, more concerned about our social life and being accepted than morality and our government.”

He is right.  But he also added the apathy of his generation.  Why do anything?  It’s too late. Jerry mentioned the next on the agenda is polyarmorous  relationships and legalized pedophilia.  Teen son said, “that will never happen, people won’t stand for that!”

Not so many years ago, I took my two teen girls to see a movie,  In the first five minutes, a gay couple having a baby were introduced and we walked out, mortified. Nowadays, same-sex couples are prominent figures in TV shows and media alike.  We have been conditioned by the media to accept it as normal. Modern Family includes a gay couple with an adopted child.  We have been simmering in the Hollywood soup for years. Do we accept it as everyone else? Are we being conditioned to accept polyarmorous relationships as portrayed in a recent Wife Swap?

My teen son pointed out that the apathy and decline is not his fault, it is the culture he was brought up in.  I agree.  He is living with the results of my generation when Civil Rights was redefined as the right for same-sex marriage.  Gays can have a civil union now if they choose.  The problem is they want to redefine what words mean which then translates new legal ramifications.  Christian adoption agencies will close or comply.

“The legalization of same-sex marriage threatens the freedom of every Christian school, institution and organization to operate on the basis of its own biblical commitments” – R. Albert Mohler Jr. How Same-Sex Marriage Threatens Society

Marriage is clearly defined in Matthew 19:4-5.

He replied, Have you never read that He Who made them from the beginning made them male and female,
And said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be united firmly (joined inseparably) to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?
So they are no longer two, but on flesh.  What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder (separate).

What can we do?  Pray.  If you are in a position to do more, than do it. Don’t drink the apathetic Kool-aid.
If it comes up in coversation, state your convictions, you may be surprised how many people agree with you!
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”- Edmund Burke

How I Organize my Day
hi, I’m Kathleen Guire Just a little bit more about me! I’ve wanted to be an author since I was a little girl, making up songs on the swing set at an army base in Denver, Colorado. My journey as a fiction author began in a Barnes and Noble bookstore with a friend and her tween daughter. The young girl was searching for a book she could read, but everything she picked up was either inappropriate, filled with curse words, or contained explicit sexual content. As a Christian mom of seven kids, I understand the struggle. Finding books with Christian themes that are both wholesome and engaging is tough. Library and bookstore trips can quickly become frustrating. My friend’s tween’s disappointment at not finding something suitable was all too familiar to me. I took action and wrote my first fiction book, aiming to create stories that are clean, moral, and filled with unexpected plot twists. Since then, I’ve continued writing because I believe every tween, teen, YA, and mom should have access to clean thrillers and mysteries. My books blend wholesome content, moral values, and intriguing plots, addressing culturally relevant topics without compromising on quality or integrity.
