Positive Prayer
Positive Prayer
I regularly pray Ephesians 1:15-23 for my family. I insert the names of my family members in the phrases that apply such as:
[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you – insert names for ‘you’ and continue the prayer.
We become new creatures when we are born again (II Cor. 5:17). We have gifts and talents endued by our Creator, but our soul has not been renewed. We don’t know Him-we’ve just met, His dominion, power is not dwelling in our innermost personality. That is why this powerful prayer is vital!
Jesus yearns for us to use our special bent, gifts, talents and abilities for kingdom purposes. We are not to be clones going through the religious motions of monotony of with no depth or passion.
It may be difficult to be a missionary Mom to a tribe of newly saved former heathens (who still act that way) until Mom changes her perspective. It is endearing to see chubby kindergarten hands folded in prayer with curly tousled head bowed, but not too astounding when the angelic face puckers up and screams for what the flesh wants moments later. His soul is not saved. The soul is three parts- mind, will and emotions. It must be renewed. Each new creature need to have the eyes of their heart flooded with light so he may know and understand the hope to which He has called him (vs.18). It is a life long process. Repetition. Scripture memorization. Prayer. Encouragement. Pray the Scripture.
